VW Golf Mk8 Coilovers by ST suspensions: Driving Fun for Every MQB Evo Trim
The VW Golf Mk8 (CD) has been on the road since 2019 and is one of Europe's most popular compact cars. No surprise it's huge in the aftermarket scene, too. From the 1.5 TSI all the way up to the GTI/R, the MQB Evo platform covers a ton of ground. Want a more aggressive stance and sharper handling? VW Golf Mk8 Coilovers are where it starts. ST suspensions is part of KW automotive, so KW's know-how is built into every ST coilover kit. With Golf Mk8 coilovers from ST, you drop your car, give it a tougher stance, and carve corners with tight, controllable handling.
The Big Suspension Comparison
Series
The standard suspension in the VW Golf Mk8 (CD) is well-balanced: it smooths out bumps effectively and stays stable through corners. GTI models get a sportier tune, but their damping hits its limits during rapid direction changes. With an ST coilover suspension, sporty drivers get more out of it: with a direct steering response, less body roll, and a fully adjustable lowering setup you can tune to your own driving style through independent rebound and compression settings.
ST X
Where the stock suspension runs out of precision during rapid direction changes, the ST X steps in: a factory-tuned Golf Mk8 coilover, fixed and ready, no fiddling required. In addition, you'll get a continuously adjustable drop. Meaning: you set the height, the rest just works. The result: sharper steering precision, less body roll, and a tighter and more balanced handling on country roads.
Available coilovers kits for the Golf Mk8 (CD)
Height adjustable
Adjustment of the maximum lowering according to the parts certificate via an infinitely variable adjustment range.
Composite spring perch
Adjustable spring plates made of polyamide composite material with stainless steel insert prevent corrosion on the suspension strut and ensure permanent height adjustability.
Galvanised strut housing
Galvanised and multi-sealed steel strut housing for optimised corrosion protection.
Dust protection and bump stop
Dirt particles and spray water can no longer penetrate to the piston rod seal package of the coilover suspension. The bump stop is used as an additional spring element when the suspension is subject to heavy loads.
FAQ
Can I keep the DCC suspension on my Golf Mk8 and still lower it?
Yes. With our ST lowering springs, DCC stays fully intact - only the stock springs are replaced. This gives you a stepless lowering within a defined adjustment range. If you'd rather install a full ST coilover kit, you'll need to give up DCC. Our ST cancellation kit ensures a technically clean transition from the DCC suspension to the aftermarket suspension, maintaining correct communication between the vehicle's electronics and the suspension.
Multi-link or torsion beam rear axle - which one does my Golf Mk8 have?
Depending on engine variant, the VW Golf Mk8 comes with either a torsion beam or a multi-link rear axle. This determines which ST products are available for your car — you can find the exact configuration in your vehicle registration document. If you're ordering through our online shop, we'll need this information to recommend the right products.
How low can I lower my Golf Mk8?
This depends on your VW Golf Mk8 (CD)'s model variant. Standard models can be lowered 35–60 mm front and rear, the GTI 20–45 mm front and rear, and the Golf 8 R 25–45 mm also at both axles. All figures fall within the adjustment range approved in the parts certification (Teilegutachten).
Is there a wheel spacer available for the Golf 8?
Yes, for the VW Golf 8 (CD) we offer our classic wheel spacers as well as the modular DZX (bolt-through system, 5–25 mm more width per wheel) and AZX (bolt-on system, 20–35 mm more width per wheel) systems. To find the recommended width for your vehicle, use our ST wheel spacer finder — make sure to select the correct vehicle model.
